UPDATE ON LIBRARY RE-OPENING FOR LIMITED SERVICES ONLY

We are happy to announce starting June 22nd patrons may begin returning checked out items to the Community Room’s outside door, Monday through Friday from 11am-4pm and on Saturdays from 11am-1pm. For your safety and ours, there will be a 7 day quarantine for all returned materials, and no overdue fees will result from this waiting period.

Starting July 6th, patrons may request library materials over the phone and via the library’s online catalog to be picked up at the library’s front door. When your items are available for pick up, the library will call you with an appointment time. You will need an ID or your library card in order to receive your items.

Please note, in order to drop off or pick up items, you must be wearing a mask. PFPL reserves the right to refuse service to those patrons who are not wearing a mask.

The library building, including public computer access, will continue to be closed to the public until further notice. No printing or notary services are available at this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Staff will also be on-site to answer patron questions over the phone (856-665-5959 x3) and email (askalibrarian@pennsaukenlibrary.org), and process items.

Black Lives Matter at Pennsauken Free Public Library

Amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, we have seen our nation once again engage with racial injustice and police brutality against Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, on a scale that we haven’t witnessed since the peak of the Civil Rights movement of the 1960s.

We know there’s a great deal of energy and community engagement around dismantling systemic race-based oppression in America, and in accordance with our mission statement, we reaffirm our commitment to provide opportunities for everyone to learn, explore, and grow in knowledge, in a safe and welcoming environment. Additionally, we affirm our unequivocal support of the fact that Black Lives Matter. No one’s humanity is up for debate.

So where do we go from here? We’re starting with community conversations and abundant informational resources.

On June 18 at 7:00pm, the Pennsauken Free Public Library will host a virtual program for the entire community, Going Beyond "The Talk": Surviving Violence, Victimization, and Viral Pandemics, presented by Reverend Lukata Mjumbe, Pastor at Witherspoon Presbyterian Church in Princeton, NJ.

Reverend Mjumbe’s presentation will provide a critical examination of the realities of race, victimization, violence, and the ways viral pandemics have disproportionately affected our communities of color, especially our Black and Latino neighbors.

We warmly invite you to register and participate in the discussion, and look forward to an informative and engaging evening. Your Pennsauken Free Public Library staff are developing a series of programs at the Library, including community conversations about systemic racism, ethnic identity, and immigration. We hope you’ll join us.
